Exit A1 out of Wan Chai MTR station takes you up onto one of the many walkways above the streets, for a bird's eye view of the street life below.  The trees down the road almost give this area the feel of a village in the heart of one of Hong Kong's busiest districts.

The street is Lockhart Road and it is lined with shops serving the local community.  Here you can pick up some fish balls and other local delights.

As it is a Sunday, you can see Indonesian maids and Filipino maids on the streets, along with interested bystanders.

Look up from the street level and you can see the variety of building styles along the road.

Slightly off the main road you can start to see the shiny gloss of new skyscrapers, but note how lifeless they are.  

The older buildings are dotted with peoples' laundry which actually helps maintain a cool sheet of air around the building itself.

In the far distance you can see the Hong Kong Dragon; a logo designed for the      'I Love Hong Kong' promotion.

Sometimes the position of the arial walkways can make it look like the skyscrapers are built on top of the walkway itself!  Clearly this cannot be, but look how dense these buildings are.

The street level is often not the best space for pedestrians, and one soon learns how to get around central Hong Kong avoiding the traffic below.

It is rare to see bicycles used in Wan Chai, and I suspect these have not been used for a while as a saddle-less bike can't be much fun!
