The drive to Pauanui on the Coromandel Peninsula took us all the way up the west coast of the peninsula to Coromandel and across then down the east coast. This coastal route involved very many narrow windy roads which never seemed to end! Just before Coromandel we spotted a busy Mussell Kitchen and stopped for a late lunch; the food was excellent! As we continued onwards, the weather started to change a little, giving hints at the terrible conditions in store tomorrow.
Today was New Year’s Eve, so we enjoyed a special dinner in the hotel and fell fast asleep, listening to the fireworks in town as we nodded off!
