The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is more commonly known as the Blue Mansion because of the stunning colour of the external walls. This mansion was built in 1897 and is currently a boutique hotel, but there are tours three times a day and it is well worth taking a look inside. Cheong Fatt Tze was one of China’s last Mandarins and first Capitalists, having started on his route to fame and fortune by marrying the boss’s daughter.
This mansion was restored in 1990 and everything about this mansion says precision and attention to detail. It is a relatively large building as Cheong Fatt Tze had eight wives, and I guess they all needed some space?
